Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the lodge, as is leaving a tobacco odour inside the lodge by any other means.

Guests who leave a tobacco odour inside the lodge will be billed for having the odour professionally removed - at an emergency call-out rate - from the soft furniture, carpets, curtains and air. In the event of a dispute, the firm who perform this work will act as witnesses.

This policy applies even if no one was actually smoking inside the lodge and the odour only originated from people's clothing. It is therefore strongly advised that those who intend to smoke at all during their holiday consider finding accommodation with a less-strict smoking policy.

Loss or damage

sts are liable to pay for any loss or damage, 
beyond normal wear and tear, or the need for excessive cleaning - the price includes general cleaning, but not, for example, the cleaning of kitchenware, or the removal of mud splashes on the walls, or the disposal of items left in, or around, the lodge.


Dogs are allowed
in the lodge, and at no extra charge, as long as they are:
  • well-behaved, including house-trained
  • not left in the lodge on their own
  • not allowed to bark for prolonged periods
  • not allowed onto the furniture, including the beds
  • prevented from doing the toilet in the immediate vicinity of the lodge - there is a rough grassy area close to the lodge that they can use.
Guests are of course liable to pay for any damage caused by their dogs, including stains on the carpets, mattresses, sofa, etc.

Although we prefer to take Friday-to-Friday bookings - avoid weekend traffic - any available period may be booked.

For bookings of less, or more, than seven days, please enquire about the price.

Entry is from 5pm; exit is by 9.15am.

Included in the price
  • electricity (there's electric heating in every room)
  • fresh bed linen (the beds will be made-up for you)
  • 4 sets of fresh towels (one bath towel and one hand towel per set)
  • 2 full rolls of toilet paper
  • 2 fresh dish towels, 1 full roll of paper towels, and 1 dishwasher tablet per night
  • washing-up liquid
  • liquid hand soap in the bathroom and the kitchen
  • first aid kit
There's no charge for well-behaved dogs, but please see note below-left.


Before making a booking, please ensure that you've read and understood the cancellation terms at the bottom of the page, and also the points in the box below-left.
  • £80 deposit, per week, required to secure booking if stay is more than 6 weeks away, otherwise full amount required - see below note about cancellations.
    • If paying a deposit, remainder required within 6 weeks of the start of your stay - no reminder will be sent.

    • You can pay by bank transfer or cheque:
      • bank transfer:
        • Details of bank account will be forwarded to you.
        • Please use your surname as the payment reference.

      • cheques:
        • Please make cheques payable to S. Dickinson and write booking dates on back of cheque.
        • We'll let you know the address to send the cheque to.
        • Please send the cheque as soon as possible, as dates can only be reserved for up to three working days without payment.
    • A receipt will be sent by email upon receipt of each payment - this can be sent by post if you don't have an email address.

    • At least 6 weeks notice required for refund less deposit, otherwise full amount payable.
      • However, we'll try to re-book any cancelled dates, and if a new booking is secured, then all payments will be refunded.
